Biography of Roger Taylor

Roger Meddows Taylor was born on Tuesday, July 26, 1949. He has one sister named Clare. When he was eight he saw his cousin play the ukulele. It was enough to persuade him, that he should form a band - there might be money to be made here. He moved on to Truro Public School in 1960 and then he learned to play the guitar. In 1961 he began to teach himself to play the drums.

He left school in 1967 with seven O Levels and three A Levels. He decided he wanted to become a dentist, and moved to London to attend London Hospital Medical College.

In 1968 to form Smile, a semi pro band. They had Tim Staffell playing bass, and singing lead vocals. The band folded about a year later, and Tim left to join another band called Humpy Bong. Soon after that, Freddie joined up, and Smile became Queen. Taylor generally write one or two songs per Queen album, usually singing on his own compositions.
