Brian Harold May was born on Saturday, July 19, 1947 in Hampton, Middlesex to Harold and Ruth May. At the age of five, Brian started to play the piano. Brian hated lessons, he had to practice on Saturday when he would rather be out playing. When he was six he also played the ukulel and in the age of seven he got his first akustic guitar. Although he hated the piano, he took lessons until the age of nine, passing the level four theory and practical exams In august 1963 Brian and his father began to build a guitar exactly to Brian's specifications. Because of small budget the parts came from very strange things. With lots of problems Brian and his father had created a masterpiece - the Red Special. Brian finished school in 1965 with 10 O levels. He soon applied to study astronomy at Imperial College in London. Brian has penned 22 top 20 hits worldwide, among them the anthemic 'We Will Rock You', 'The Show Must Go On', 'I Want It All', 'Fat Bottomed Girls' and powerful ballads including 'Who Wants To Live Forever', 'No-One But You', and 'Save Me'. |
